- The positive difference between the largest and smallest value in a data.
Here are some examples:

1st- Reorder the data by least to greatest
2 ,3 ,4 ,6 ,9
2nd - Find the largest value and smallest value
2 and 9
3rd- Subtract the lowest value to the highest value
9-2=7
Then you'll get your range
Here are some more examples:
-8 , -1 , -3 , -5
reorder
-8 , -5 , -3 , -1
Find the high and low value then subtract
(-1)-(-8)=7
Outliers
- A value that is much smaller or larger than the other data values
- A data set may have one or more outliers or no outliers
Find the Range:
a) 7 , 4 , 3 , 6 , 2 , 5 , 8 , 3
2 , 3 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8
8-2=6
6 is your range
b) 11 , 8 , 8 , 5 , 7 , 6 ,7 , 6 , 6
5 , 6 , 6 , 6 , 7 , 7 , 8 , 8 , 11
11-5=6

6 is your range
c)-4 , 3 , -1 , 0 , 2
-4 , -1 , 0 , 2 , 3
3-(-4)=7
7 is your range
Find the outliers:
a) 18 ,19 ,79 ,17 ,20 ,12
12 ,17 ,18 ,19 ,20 ,79 = 79
b) 14 ,14 ,16 ,15 ,1 ,16
1 ,14 ,14 ,15 ,16 ,16 = 1
c) 98 ,202 ,99 ,91 ,2 ,95 ,89 ,88 ,94
2 ,88 ,89 ,91 ,94 ,95 ,98 ,99 ,202= 2 and 202
